East Tisted Village
Within the protected surroundings of the South Downs National Park, East Tisted is a village of just over 200 residents just off the A32, 5 miles south of Alton. The village straddles the historic but now-closed Meon Valley railway, one of many walking routes within walking distance of the village centre. A general stores/post office, farm shop, village hall, church and cricket/recreation ground are attributes of East Tisted village. The surrounding countryside is of outstanding natural beauty with local landmarks including the Rotherfield Park Estate, Selborne with its revered Gilbert White natural history connections, Jane Austen’s Chawton and The White Horse Inn. Footpaths and bridleways abound including Noar Hill, the Zig Zag and Hangers Way. Alton with its varied High Street shops, M&S and adjacent Sainsbury’s store also provides senior and private schooling, rail connections to London Waterloo, a sports centre, FE college and both hotels and inns. Primary schools are located at Selborne and Chawton, with the area also providing golf courses and country sports facilities.
